A festive music and rhythm showcase featuring uplifting performances from around the world and local communities at the Musical Instrument Museum.
Joy to the World comes to the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix on Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6, with performances running from 9 AM to 5 PM both days. It's a weekend of song and rhythm, with the museum filling the space with music from around the world and from right here in our own local communities.
The whole thing is built around the idea of celebrating the joy of music. The performances draw from a wide range of traditions, so you'll hear styles from different countries alongside music from local groups. It's a good way to spend a winter weekend if you're in the mood for something uplifting—the kind of thing that works as well for a family outing as it does for a solo trip. Since it runs all day, you can drop in whenever fits your schedule rather than having to be there for a single set.
Behind the scenes, the programming is supported in part by the City of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture and the Arizona Commission on the Arts, so it's a local effort as much as a global one. The museum is the Musical Instrument Museum, which is a great place to be when the focus is on how music sounds across different cultures.
