Three spook-tacular nights with trick-or-treating, face painting, and ghoulish games at the Phoenix Zoo.
Spooky Safari is back at the Phoenix Zoo this October, running three nights in a row: Wednesday the 28th, Thursday the 29th, and Friday the 30th. Each night goes from 5:30 to 8:30 PM, so you've got a few different windows to work with if you're trying to fit it into a busy week. It's a trick-or-treat event, and costumes are welcome and encouraged, which is half the fun if you've already got something put together.
Between the trick-or-treating, there's face painting and ghoulish games to keep things moving. The entertainment side is handled by DJ Mars Glow Parties, the Dino Crew, and Dr. T-Rex, so you'll have music and characters scattered throughout the night. It's the kind of thing that works well for families with kids, and since it's spread over three nights, you can pick the one that fits your schedule best.
It helps to keep in mind where this is happening. The Phoenix Zoo is one of the largest non-profit zoos in the country, caring for more than 3,000 animals across nearly 400 species, many of them threatened or endangered. It's the only zoo in the Valley accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and its mission is to advance the stewardship and conservation of animals and their habitats. They also run Art on the Wild Side, a program dedicated to conservation through art, and ZooLights, their holiday tradition.
