Geographer is an alternative rock, folk, and experimental project out of Los Angeles, fronted by Mike Deni. He handles vocals, guitar, keys, synth, and saxophone, and is backed by a live band for the set. The night is part of Kishi Bashi's Sonderlust 10th Anniversary Tour, which brings the Los Angeles project to the Valley as a headliner.
The show takes place at Crescent Ballroom, 308 N 2nd Ave in downtown Phoenix. The room opened in 2011 when Arizona promoter Charlie Levy brought it to Second Avenue, and it's grown into a city institution and live-music hub since then. It's often credited with helping revive an area that was once considered a ghost town at night. With a 500-capacity concert hall and an adjacent cocktail lounge, the venue has booked everything from indie and hip-hop to EDM, folk, punk, jazz, and Latin over the past 14 years, and it's turning 15 this year.
