Showcase of eight teams of life science researchers and local artists who translate their research into sculpture, sound, image and installation in the Dorrance DOME.
ARx5 Live: Where Art Meets Innovation takes over the Arizona Science Center on Thursday, November 5, from 5 PM to 8:30 PM. It's the showcase for the Artist + Researcher (ARx) program, a collaboration between the Science Center and The Artist + Researcher Alliance that pairs life science researchers with local artists.
Eight curated teams are featured, with work covering themes from neuroscience to environmental health. Each pair spent the season working side by side, translating complex research into art you can see, feel and understand through sculpture, sound, image and installation. Before the work comes to life inside the Dorrance DOME, each pair shares the story of their collaboration.
The evening is built on the idea that art and science belong together, and the program is supported by donations from people who believe it. The resulting showcase brings together eight different interpretations of scientific ideas, each one a conversation between a researcher and an artist.
