Immersive 47-minute dome experience that fuses ocean nature sounds, live music and visual art to connect with marine life and find calm.
Mindful Moments - Sounds of the Ocean opens at the Arizona Science Center on Sunday, November 1, and it's an experience that works best if you know exactly what you're getting into. It's an award-winning session that blends nature sounds, live music, and immersive visual art, all designed to get you to connect with marine life and find some calm. The visuals and soundscapes were captured in the Central Pacific Ocean, and they're projected inside the Dorrance DOME, which the center bills as one of the most advanced digital domes in the world—a 60-foot display that brings art, science, and culture together under one roof.
Each session runs for 47 minutes, and it's part of a broader program the DOME is running around music, art, mindfulness, and storytelling. That same series includes sound healing led by Sierra Jiwani of Mindful Resonance and yoga led by Sharon Ducati of Sharon Rose Yoga, so if you're into that side of things, this is one piece of a larger set of offerings. The whole thing is open to audiences of all ages, so it works as a quiet afternoon with kids or a solo way to wind down.
