Annual Arizona State Fair themed 'State of Wonder' with midway rides, food, the Coliseum Concert Series and community programmes like 'Feel Good Fridays'.
The Arizona State Fair is back at the Arizona State Fairgrounds in Phoenix, running from Thursday, Oct. 1 through Sunday, Nov. 1. It's open Thursdays through Sundays and closed Mondays through Wednesdays, so you'll want to plan your visit around those windows. Gates open at noon, with last entry at 9 PM on Thursdays and Sundays and 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays.
This year's fair is themed State of Wonder, and it brings back the things that make it a fair: the midway rides, the food, and the Coliseum Concert Series. Beyond the rides, there are a few programs that make it easier to bring the whole family. Feel Good Fridays gives free admission to anyone who brings eight nonperishable food items, and Read and Ride gives children aged 5 to 14 free ride tickets for every book they finish. College students can get half-price admission on College Day with a valid student ID, and military and first responders pay a $12 rate that includes admission for one additional guest.
When it comes to the rides, you have a few ways to play. You can buy individual ride tickets for $1.25 each, or go for a Fast Pass, a Dream Pass good for ten rides or games, or an Unlimited Ride Wristband if you're planning to spend the whole day on the midway. Parking is available at the North and West lots, and there's a free park-and-ride shuttle running from Phoenix College.

Admission is $20 for adults 13 and older, $14 for seniors 62 and up, and $12 for children 5 to 12, with children 4 and younger getting in free. Between the free admission on Fridays and the student and first responder discounts, there are plenty of ways to keep the cost down.
