WHY? (Yoni Wolf) plays The First Unitarian Church with his album 'Oh Golly / Yes Lord' on the tour.
WHY? is playing The First Unitarian Church on Saturday, November 14, for a special seated show. The set is built around Oh Golly / Yes Lord, the project's ninth album, which Yoni Wolf is performing live in its entirety.
WHY? is the solo project of Yoni Wolf, who has been channeling his neuroses and restless creativity since the late 1990s. Oh Golly / Yes Lord splits a man into two opposing halves and draws on phrases from his father: an aggrieved sigh set against harmonious acceptance, "bad attitude vs. good gratitude." It follows 2024's The Well I Fell Into, an introspective account of a brutal breakup, and arrived after a five-year break since 2019's AOKOHIO.
The record is divided into two sides. The "Oh Golly" side was made with help from his brother Josiah and producer Andrew Broder. The "Yes Lord" side is a collaboration with Nate Mercereau, who has worked with André 3000 and The Weeknd—a partnership that was unprecedented in WHY?'s history. Across the two, Wolf raps through the corners of his psyche, in the same lineage as Oaklandazulasylum, Alopecia, and Mumps, Etc.
