This Is Lorelei is the solo moniker of New York artist Nate Amos. In 2024, he released Box for Buddy, Box for Star, a record that picked up year-end accolades from Rolling Stone, Billboard, GQ, Pitchfork, Stereogum, The FADER, and Paste. Amos is also one half of the band Water From Your Eyes, and he's put out a re-recorded collection of Lorelei songs called Holo Boy, alongside collaborations and reimaginings with MJ Lenderman, Snail Mail, and his parents, Bob and Sarah Amos. Waxahatchee and Cameron Winter have covered his songs.
His writing leans toward clear, country-tinged indie. Live, he keeps the vocal close and conversational, backed by clean guitar, a steady machine beat, and keys thickening the low endβand he often plays a half-step lower than on record. If you're into Alex G, Lomelda, or Wednesday, this is right in that wheelhouse.
