Banjo prodigy Nora Brown and fiddler Stephanie Coleman, with special guest James Shipp, play Appalachian folk music in the Americana Festival: Roots & Reinventions.
Nora Brown returns to the Harold Prince Theatre on Saturday, February 13, 2027, at 7:30 PM. This is her first time back at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts since she debuted on the Penn Live Arts stage in 2022, when The Boston Globe called her a "must-see artist."
She's not playing solo this time. She'll be joined by master fiddler Stephanie Coleman, and together they're an award-winning duo. Their approach to Appalachian folk music is described as both reverent and spirited, and Folk Radio UK has praised their "consistent flair and an audible mastery of their instruments." They're known for pushing each other creatively while staying deeply connected to the tradition they're working in.
Adding a third voice to the mix is percussionist James Shipp, who joins them as a special guest. His percussion infuses the storytelling of old-time music with fresh energy, shifting the duo into a trio for the night. The whole performance is part of the Americana Festival: Roots & Reinventions, a series that puts Appalachian and roots music center stage.
