Ambient hardcore band Marietta performs with support from Euphoria Again, Bleary Eyed and Máty at the Philly Music Fest takeover.
Marietta play Underground Arts on Saturday, October 17, with support from Euphoria Again, Bleary Eyed and Máty. It's the closing show of the Philly Music Fest takeover at the venue, so it's the final night of that particular run.
Marietta is an ambient hardcore band from Keller, Texas, and they've been around since 2007. The name ambient hardcore does a lot of the heavy lifting here: it's a combination of the loud, aggressive side of hardcore and the spacious, textural side of ambient music. The band is fronted by Hunter Fitch on lead vocals and electronics, and Hunter Madison on drums and vocals. Having electronics and drums as the core of the sound gives them a different way of building a set than a standard four-piece guitar band, and the ambient side of the equation means there's room for quiet and space alongside the louder moments.
They're not coming alone. Euphoria Again, Bleary Eyed and Máty are all on the bill, so there's a full run of openers before Marietta takes the stage. It's a four-act night, and since it's the closer for the Philly Music Fest takeover, it's the one that wraps up the whole series of shows at Underground Arts.
