World music concert by Patricio Acevedo, drawing on the traditions of his native Chile, for all ages as part of the library's Hispanic Heritage programming.
Patricio Acevedo is playing at the Joseph E. Coleman Northwest Regional Library on Tuesday, October 20, at 5:30 PM. It's a world music concert that draws on the traditions of his native Chile, and it's open to all ages, from school-age kids to seniors.
Acevedo's work blends poetry with vibrant melodies, and he describes his music as a reflection on the highlands of the Andes and the vast plains of Patagonia in the south of the country. If you're not familiar with the geography, that's a wide stretch of terrain to cover in one set—from the high mountains down to the southern plains. The poetry is as much a part of the performance as the music, so you'll hear lyrics that lean into those landscapes as much as the melodies themselves.
