Show by the vampire-themed punk and hardcore band Ink & Dagger, with support from Blacklisted, at the Creese Student Center on Drexel University.
Ink & Dagger play the Creese Student Center at Drexel University on Saturday, October 31, with Blacklisted opening. It's a Halloween night show for a band that fits the date better than almost any other in the city's history.
If you weren't around for it, Ink & Dagger was a vampire-themed punk band from Philadelphia that burned through the late nineties, from 1996 to 1999. They blurred punk, hardcore, and psychedelia, and wrapped the whole thing in rumors, vampire lore, and blood-spattered theatrics. The only two permanent members throughout their run were guitarist Don Devore and vocalist Sean Patrick McCabe, who died in 2000 at age 27. The rest of the lineup shifted around them, pulling in Eric Wareheim—co-creator and star of Adult Swim's Tom Goes to the Mayor and Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!—alongside Josh Brown, Jennifer Layne Park, Ashli State, and Ryan McLaughlin.
Their sound pulled from a wide spread of influences, from American Nightmare and Thursday to The Murder City Devils, Botch, AFI, and My Chemical Romance. The style they worked with spanned punk, hardcore, horror punk, queercore, and occult rock. Trust Records has since reissued their discography across three stand-alone LPs remastered by David Cooley, plus a deluxe box set, Ink & Dagger: The Complete Works, limited to 500 copies.
