Live concert by Burlington indie-rock artist Greg Freeman and post-punk quartet Robber Robber at the First Unitarian Church.
Greg Freeman plays The First Unitarian Church on Wednesday, November 18, with Robber Robber opening. Both acts come from Burlington, Vermont, so it's a bit of a New England double bill coming down to Philadelphia.
Freeman has been working the indie-rock circuit since 2023, when he put out All Set The Bone. That followed Burnover and I Looked Out, and he left his longtime home to commit to music full-time, trading in odd jobs as a cemetery landscaper and restaurant line cook. His sound draws on Fugazi, Unwound, Big Star, The Drones and Mission of Burma, and he's collaborated with Anna McClellan, Trinity Ace, Joey Sullivan and Carney Hemler, producing with John Congleton in Los Angeles.
Robber Robber is a post-punk quartet led by Nina Cates, who wrote and recorded their album Two Wheels Move the Soul through the winter of 2024-2025, after Cates and co-founder Zack James were displaced from their home. The band says everything they create is driven by sheer curiosity and loose creative parameters, with the truth as the grist of the overflow.
