Montreal singer-songwriter Basia Bulat plays solo on guitar, piano and autoharp, reimagining songs from her 2025 album 'Basia's Palace'.
Basia Bulat plays the Philadelphia Ethical Society on Friday, November 6, performing solo on guitar, piano and autoharp. It's a seated show, so you'll be sitting through the set rather than standing at the back.
Bulat is a Montreal-based singer-songwriter whose work pulls from gospel, soul and classic folk, held together by a distinctive voice and a multi-instrumental approach. She's a three-time Polaris Music Prize finalist and a JUNO Award nominee, and she's played global stages like NPR's Tiny Desk and Later... with Jools Holland. Over the years she's toured with Sufjan Stevens, The National, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Daniel Lanois, St Vincent and Destroyer, and has collaborated as a songwriter with US Girls and Jeremy Dutcher. She records and performs on electric guitar, piano, autoharp, ukulele, bass and charango, and her songs have been adapted for symphony orchestras; she's also been invited to play tributes to Leonard Cohen, Daniel Lanois and The Band.

This particular tour centers on Basia's Palace, the album she released in 2025, which she describes as her most sonically expansive record to date. The show reimagines that album alongside highlights from her earlier work, all performed solo on guitar, piano and autoharp. The Ethical Society is at 1906 Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia. Doors open at 7:30 PM, and the show starts at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $37.14.
