Special seated live music show by soft rock project Advance Base with support from bobbie and Kristin Daelyn.
Advance Base plays The Side Chapel of the First Unitarian Church on Friday, December 11, with bobbie and Kristin Daelyn opening. It's a seated show, so you'll have a chair rather than standing the whole night.
Advance Base is the melancholic soft rock project of Chicago singer-songwriter Owen Ashworth, who you might know from Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. He works with a two-handed arsenal of electric piano, Omnichord, samplers, effect pedals and drum machines, building minimalist, heavy-hearted, nostalgia-obsessed ballads around his conversational baritone. The sound has been described as lo-fi, depressed and weirdly uplifting.
His third album, Animal Companionship, came out on September 21, 2018. Since then, he's put out Wall of Tears & Other-Songs I Didn't Write, a home-recorded collection of mostly country and Americana covers, and Live at Home, a gathering of mid-quarantine livestream performances. A new single, "Little Sable Point Lighthouse," arrived on March 31, 2022. This is a seated performance in the church's Side Chapel, and bobbie and Kristin Daelyn open the bill.
