Live night at The Library Pub on Cowley Road with Manchester psych rockers Wax Head, Oxford's Mystery Biscuit and Reading's Shallowdaze.
Wax Head headline The Library Pub on Saturday 24 October, with Oxford's own Mystery Biscuit and Reading's Shallowdaze on the bill. The night is promoted by OMS magazine, and the music starts at 7.45pm.
Wax Head come from Manchester, where they're building a name as psych rockers. They're the main draw here, and they'll be sharing the stage with two bands from a bit closer to home. Mystery Biscuit are Oxford's own, so they'll be playing on their own turf, while Shallowdaze come over from Reading and describe their sound as shoegazey pop. Between the psych rock and the shoegaze, it's a night that leans into the louder, more atmospheric end of indie rock.
The venue is The Library Pub, 182 Cowley Road, OX4 1UE. It's been on the road since 2011 and is one of the independent pubs to visit on the street, with two bars and a heated garden. There's a wide selection of craft beers, spirits and small-plate dishes, and the downstairs bar programmes live music from local, national and international acts alongside weekly reggae, dancehall and hip-hop DJ nights. It's a good spot to arrive early and settle in before the music starts.
