Family science show by The Magical Mr West and his crow, Crowbert, full of optical illusions and baffling tricks to try at home.
The Magical Mr West is back at Pegasus Theatre on Sunday 18 October, with The Brain Bending Science Illusion Show. He's not alone this time; his corvid companion Crowbert is along for the ride, and the whole thing is presented in collaboration with IF Oxford.
If the name rings a bell, it's because this follows his previous show, Adventures in Science. This one takes things in a slightly different direction, landing you in a world of cognitive conundrums, mind-melting mysteries and surreal psychology. There are impossible optical illusions to pick apart and baffling tricks that you can actually try out at home afterwards, so it's as much about what happens on stage as what you can do when you get back. It's a family show, so it works as well for the kids as it does for anyone who enjoys seeing their own brain get a bit bamboozled.
The show is touring the UK, and it's come to Oxford as part of IF Oxford's annual programme, which is all about sparking curiosity and engagement with science and ideas. This year marks the festival's 35th, and it runs from 16 to 31 October, so this is one of several things happening across the city over those two weeks.
