The bEAT, led by Dave Wakeling, bring their 'Dance Crazed Too' 2-Tone tour to the O2 Academy Oxford, with The Selecter and DJ Rhoda Dakar.
The bEAT are at O2 Academy Oxford on Thursday 29 October, part of their Dance Crazed Too UK tour. It's a 21-date run across the country, and this is the Oxford stop. The band is fronted by vocalist Dave Wakeling, and they're bringing their 2-Tone sound to the Academy.
They describe the tour as a celebration of the 2-Tone scene that changed their lives and the many friends they've met along the way. It's not just a headline set, either: they're sharing the bill with The Selecter, another big name from the same era, and DJ Rhoda Dakar, so the night covers a good stretch of that sound from start to finish. The bEAT themselves are a legendary 2-Tone group, and with The Selecter on the bill, it's two of the scene's original acts on one stage.
There's a bit of a dress code suggested for this one, too. The band encourages fans to turn up dressed for the occasion and make a party of the night, so if you've still got your old 2-Tone gear — the suits, the pork pie hats, the sharp lines — it's a good excuse to dig it out. It's a tour that looks back at the scene as much as it plays through it, and that invitation to dress up fits right in with the whole thing.

Doors open at 19:00, and the curfew is 23:00, so there's plenty of room for the support acts before The bEAT take over. With The Selecter and Rhoda Dakar on the bill, the night starts well before the main set even kicks in.
