Screening of the PG film 'Tenzing', the story of the Sherpa who climbed Everest with Edmund Hillary, at the Phoenix Picturehouse.
Tenzing is screening at Phoenix Picturehouse on Wednesday 21 October, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. It's a PG-rated film that tells the untold story of Tenzing Norgay, the mountain climber who, alongside Edmund Hillary, became one of the first two people to reach the summit of Everest. Most of us know the name, but the film focuses on his side of the climb, the part that often gets left out of the story.
The session is part of the cinema's family programme, and the mid-morning slot makes it a good one to bring the kids along. It's a two-hour showing, so you're in and out before lunch.
If you're not already familiar with the place, Phoenix Picturehouse is a century-old cinema on Walton Street, with two screens and a friendly upstairs bar. It runs a Kids' Club presented with UNICEF, and there's a membership available from £6.99 a month that includes free cinema tickets, discounts on food and drinks, no booking fees and priority booking. If you're planning on seeing more than a few things there over the next year, it's worth weighing up.
