Swing Fix! weekly Lindy Hop class and social dancing

Swing Fix is back at St Columba's United Reformed Church this Tuesday, 20 October, as part of the weekly Lindy Hop night run by Oxford Lindy Hoppers. It's a social night for anyone who can't keep off the dance floor, with a class to get you started and social dancing to follow. If you've never tried swing dancing before, this is a good place to start.

The night kicks off with the Swing Basics class from 20:00 to 21:00. It's a drop-in session suitable for absolute beginners, and the aim is to get you dancing within the hour and introduce you to the local scene. You don't need a partner to join in. For those who've been around a bit longer, there's a Themed-track class from 19:00 to 20:00. It used to be called Fast-track and it builds on the previous week, so it's one to stick with rather than drop into. These classes dive into different swing styles and choreographies — Collegiate Shag, Balboa, and Blues, as well as standards like the Shim Sham — and the night traditionally wraps up with the 'Survivors photo'.

Once the classes are done, the social dancing runs from 21:00 to 22:15, and you're welcome to come along for just that if you've already got your steps down. The whole thing is held at St Columba's United Reformed Church Hall in Oxford, and you get in through the rear of the Bear Pub on Blue Boar Street. One practical thing to keep in mind: it's card payments only, so leave the cash at home.

As for the cost, the Swing Basics class is £8, which includes the social. The Themed-track class is also £8, including the social. If you want to do both classes and the social, it's £10. And if you're just coming for the dancing, the social on its own is £5.
