Weekly all-levels Lindy Hop Swing Basics class followed by social dancing, run by Oxford Lindy Hoppers.
Swing Fix is back at St Columba's United Reformed Church on Tuesday 24 November, the weekly Lindy Hop night run by Oxford Lindy Hoppers. It's an intimate social for anyone who can't keep off the dance floor, and the whole evening is built around getting you moving rather than just watching. The night traditionally closes with the 'Survivors photo', a group shot of everyone who stayed until the end.
The evening starts with two classes. The Swing Basics class runs from 20:00 to 21:00; it's beginner-friendly and open to all levels, and you don't need to bring a partner. The aim is to get you social dancing within the hour, so you can jump straight into the dancing that follows. Before that, from 19:00 to 20:00, there's the Themed-track class — formerly Fast-track — which builds on the previous week. It covers styles like Collegiate Shag, Balboa and Blues, along with standard choreographies like the Shim Sham, so it's more of a continuing course than a one-off.
From 21:00 to 22:15, the floor opens for social dancing, where you can put what you've learned into practice. You can come for just the dancing, or pair it with one or both of the classes. The Swing Basics class including social is £8; the Themed-track class including social is £8; social only is £5; and both classes including social is £10. It's card payments only, so leave the cash at home.
