Piano recital by Elisabeth Brauß, featuring Robert Schumann, in the St John's International Piano Series.
Elisabeth Brauß plays St John's College Auditorium on Thursday 11 March 2027, as part of the St John's International Piano Series. It's a solo recital, and the whole thing runs for two hours including an interval.
Brauß was raised in Hannover, where she studied at the Hochschule für Musik, and was a BBC New Generation Artist from 2018 to 2021. She made her debut at the BBC Proms and has been returning ever since. Robert Schumann is a regular in her programming, and she's closing this evening with his Faschingsschwank aus Wien. He wrote it during a bleak period in Vienna, when he was homesick for Clara and struggling to get Viennese publishers interested in his music journal.
The recital is one of ten in the St John's International Piano Series, a season that runs from 3 October 2026 to 29 May 2027 and also features Benjamin Grosvenor and Ryan Wang. If you're following the whole series, this is one of the later dates in the calendar.
