Intimate live performances by local rising stars Mount St. Helen and Dolly Mavies in the Museum of Oxford basement, bringing the 'Sounds of the City' exhibition to life.
Mount St. Helen and Dolly Mavies play the Museum of Oxford on Friday 30 October, both local names performing in the museum's basement. The night is part of Sounds from the Basement, a series that brings the museum's Sounds of the City exhibition to life by trading white walls for live music.
Mount St. Helen is the alias of Oxford multi-instrumentalist Aris Sabetai. He started the project in 2024, and it blends shoegaze, post-hardcore and 2010s indie tropes with string arrangements. Nightshift Magazine called it 'the next big thing out of Oxford' following the debut EP, The Stillness, The Dancing.
Dolly Mavies is an Oxford-based post-folk artist who fuses folk storytelling with rock rhythms, drawing on Fleetwood Mac, Florence and the Machine and Daughter. She'll be playing from her new release, The Calm & The Storm.
