Free entry to the Museum of Oxford with object handling sessions, a gallery trail and a Christmas lantern-making session inspired by Oxford's street lights.
Museum of Oxford is marking the city's Christmas Light Festival on Saturday 14 November, with a morning and afternoon of festive crafts in the Town Hall. The main draw is a lantern-making session where you can put together your own, inspired by the street lights that light up Oxford during the festival. It's a hands-on one, and since craft spaces are limited, they recommend booking ahead rather than turning up on the day.
Your ticket covers more than just the making. It includes free entry to the museum's galleries, where there are object handling sessions and a new gallery trail to follow. If you're going with kids, it's the kind of thing that fills a whole morning or afternoon: you can spend some time with the collections, work through the trail, and then settle in to make your lantern. The museum notes that ticket sales help support its work to deliver family activities, community engagement projects, schools' workshops, exhibitions and special events for Oxford's people.

There are two sessions to choose from on the day: 11.00am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.00pm, so you can pick whichever fits your Saturday. It's £2 per person, and you'll find the museum at the Town Hall on St Aldate's, OX1 1BX.
