Student theatre piece blending film, puppetry and storytelling to explore the impact of imposter syndrome, written by Holly Dodd.
Seven for a Secret runs at the Burton Taylor Studio from Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 October, part of the University of Oxford Student Season for Michaelmas Term 2026. It's written by Holly Dodd, a student piece that blends film, puppetry and storytelling to look at the impact of imposter syndrome on the human psyche.
The story follows Nora, a student haunted by an imaginary friend who never stopped rooting for her, even after a decade apart. It's described as a heartfelt passion project, and the mix of film and puppetry alongside the storytelling is how it brings that internal struggle to the stage. The piece runs for around an hour.
There are a few things to keep in mind before you book: it's recommended for ages 13 and over, and the content includes mentions of suicide and depictions of panic attacks. It's staged as part of the University of Oxford Student Season for Michaelmas Term 2026, and it's supported by Arts Council England, Oxford Council, the University of Oxford, St John's College and UK Theatre.
