Stand-up show in which Stewart Lee, dressed in a full-body wolf suit, plays the Man-Wulf and challenges modern life.
Stewart Lee is back at the Oxford Playhouse for three nights this November, Monday the 9th, Tuesday the 10th and Wednesday the 11th. He sold out the venue in 2025, so it's a return to familiar ground. This time he's not alone on stage: he's sharing it with The Man-Wulf, a tough-talking werewolf comedian drawn from the dark forests of the subconscious who hates humanity and lays down a ferocious comedy challenge.
The show frames Lee as approaching sixty, dealing with debilitating health conditions and a diminished TV profile. The central question is whether he can unleash his own inner Man-Wulf to stand alongside comedy legends like Dave Chappelle, Ricky Gervais and Jordan Peterson. To that end, he appears on stage in a full-body wolf suit. Rather than quick-fire punchlines, the set is a hypnotic, rhythmically precise deconstruction of modern life.
It's a production with a fair few names behind it: funding comes from Arts Council England, Oxford Council, the University of Oxford, St John's College and UK Theatre. Lee himself is a former BAFTA winner, once described by The Times as 'the world's greatest living stand-up comedian'.
