Olivier Award-winning comedy musical retelling of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, with pop songs, touring the UK.
Pride & Prejudice (Sort of) is coming to the Oxford Playhouse from Monday 8 to Saturday 13 March 2027. It's a comedy musical retelling of Jane Austen's most famous love story, written by Isobel McArthur. The show is part of a UK tour that runs across several venues throughout 2026 and 2027, and this is its Oxford stop.
It's an irreverent but affectionate take on the original, described as a unique and audacious adaptation in which men, money and microphones are fought over. Rather than a straight period piece, it works its way through a string of pop classics, with 'Young Hearts Run Free', 'Will You Love Me Tomorrow' and 'You're So Vain' among the songs that make up the score. It's a musical comedy, so the pop songs are woven into the story rather than just played as a concert.
The production comes with some pedigree: it won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy in the West End before heading out on the road. If you're familiar with the book, you'll recognise the core story, but the musical approach and the pop songs put it in a very different place from the versions you've probably seen before.

It runs for six days, from Monday 8 to Saturday 13 March, at the Oxford Playhouse in the city centre. If you're planning to go, it's worth keeping in mind that it's a touring production, so it'll only be in town for that one week.
