The West End smash-hit musical adaptation of the 1988 cult film Heathers, with book, music and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O'Keefe.
Heathers the Musical is coming to the New Theatre Oxford from 24 to 28 November, a short run that brings the show back to the city. It's a high-school musical adaptation of the 1988 cult classic film that starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, with book, music and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O'Keefe. The story follows Veronica Sawyer, who manages to infiltrate the clique of three girls all named Heather at Westerburg High, aided by the mysterious and murderous JD. The score includes numbers like 'Candy Store', 'Dead Girl Walking' and 'My Dead Gay Son'.
It's a production that's been around the West End and has since gone out on a UK-wide tour once more, and it picks up the WhatsOnStage Best New Musical award along the way. The show runs two hours and 30 minutes with an interval, and it's recommended for audiences aged 14 and over, so it's more of a late-teen and adult thing than a family outing. If you're planning to go, keep in mind it's a five-day run from Tuesday 24 to Saturday 28 November, so you'll want to pick your night early rather than leaving it to the weekend.
