Weekly term-time Tuesday rehearsals of the inclusive, non-audition community gospel choir for adults, with the first two sessions free.
The Oxford Gospel Choir are back at New Road Baptist Church on Tuesday 3 November, as part of their autumn term which runs every term-time Tuesday from 27 October to 8 December. The choir is a friendly, inclusive community group for adults aged 18 and over, welcoming people of all faiths and beliefs or none at all. It's an open, non-audition choir that requires no previous experience and no ability to read music, and they describe it as being as much about building friendships as sharing the joy of singing and performing.
They start a new term every September, and the group also stages community events throughout the year. One of those is Together at Christmas, a festive gospel and soul afternoon for the whole family in support of Down Syndrome Oxfordshire. Right now, they're working towards one of their biggest Christmas concerts yet, which will be held at the Olivier Hall in Oxford, also in support of Down Syndrome Oxfordshire.

If you've never sung in a choir before, this is a low-pressure way to get started. There's no audition to worry about, and you don't need to be able to read a score to join in. The sessions run on term-time Tuesdays, and the one on 3 November is from 19:30 to 22:00, with the regular rehearsals usually running 19:30 to 21:30. It costs £7 a week, and the first two sessions are free, so you can try it out for a couple of weeks before deciding if it's for you. You'll find them at New Road Baptist Church, 14 Bonn Square, Oxford OX1 1LQ.
