45-minute meditation class for Ashmolean Members led by Katie McNeil in the Mughal India gallery.
Katie McNeil is leading a meditation class at the Ashmolean Museum on Thursday 5 November, from 9.15 to 10am. It's a 45-minute session held in the Mughal India gallery (Gallery 33) on Level 1, and it's open only to Members of the museum.
McNeil is an experienced E-RYT 500h yoga and meditation teacher, and the session draws on a range of classical and contemporary approaches taught in an embodied and non-dogmatic way, leaving room for stillness, reflection and curiosity. The setting adds its own layer: the Mughal India gallery was designed as an atmosphere of thought and reflection, surrounding participants with centuries of art and contemplation. McNeil is known for creating nurturing spaces where students of all abilities can explore mindful movement, meditation, breath and rest with curiosity rather than expectation. The class is suitable for complete beginners and experienced meditators alike.
It's a morning slot, so it's one of those things you can fit in before the rest of the day takes over. The session runs for 45 minutes, starting at 9.15am and finishing at 10am. You'll need to meet at the St Giles entrance before heading up to the gallery.
