The touring production of the musical Mean Girls, with Emily Lane as Cady Heron and Vivian Panka as Regina George, brings eight performances to New Theatre Oxford.
Mean Girls comes to New Theatre Oxford from 4 to 9 January 2027, with eight performances over the six days. It's the touring production of the musical based on Tina Fey's 2004 film, and it's recommended for audiences aged 12 and over.
The story follows Cady Heron, a home-schooled student who spent most of her life in Africa and is sent to a US high school, where she clashes with the popular 'Plastics' led by Regina George. This version is set in the present day, so the Plastics have added Snapchat, WhatsApp and Instagram to their social arsenal. The book is by Fey, with music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin, who also wrote Legally Blonde. Direction and choreography are by Casey Nicholaw, known for The Book of Mormon.
The cast features Emily Lane as Cady Heron and Vivian Panka as Regina George, with Sophie Pourret as Karen Smith, Kiara Dario as Gretchen Wieners, Georgie Buckland as Janis Sarkisian, Max Gill as Damian, Ben Oatley as Aaron Samuels, Karim Zeroual as Kevin Ganatra, Jennifer Ellison as Ms Heron/Ms Norbury/Mrs George and Joshua Elmore as Mr Duvall. The show premiered in the West End in the summer of 2024 and went on to win Best New Musical at the 2025 WhatsOnStage Awards. Earlier, at the 2018 Tony Awards, it picked up 12 nominations, including Best Musical and Best Direction.
