Underground electronic dance night and fundraiser by Oxford Love Music Hate Racism with Julia-Sophie, Maria Uzor, Octavia Freud and DJ Simplex.
Julia-Sophie headlines The Bullingdon on Thursday 29 October, part of Electronic Against Hate, a grassroots showcase and fundraiser by Oxford Love Music Hate Racism. It's back in the venue's main room after sold-out shows there last year, and the night leans on the raw energy of underground dance music. Profits go to LMHR's community work promoting equality and fighting racism and fascism across the county, and there'll be an LMHR stall on the night.
Julia-Sophie is an Anglo-French avant-garde artist whose debut album, forgive too slow, blends traditional songwriting with experimental electronica. She's toured the US with Blondie, Courtney Love and Juliette Lewis. Sharing the bill is Maria Uzor, born in Norwich to a Barbadian mother and a Nigerian father, whose sound draws on reggae, African music, punk, indie and hip-hop; she's opened for Young Fathers, Black Midi and Snapped Ankles. Octavia Freud is the alter-ego of Oxford DIY artist Martin Andrews, who plays live, and DJ Simplex returns to kick-start the party with jungle and DnB.

It's a night of electronic music with a clear purpose behind it, and with two of the UK's most provocative female electronic artists on one bill, there's plenty to hear. The whole thing starts at 19:00 in the main room of The Bullingdon on Cowley Road.
