Renowned DJ Craig Charles spins funk and soul classics in a live house party experience at the O2 Academy Oxford.
Craig Charles brings his Funk & Soul Revue to O2 Academy Oxford on Friday 11 December, as part of a four-date tour that also takes in Leeds, Liverpool, Bristol and London. The night sits within his wider Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club, so it's a stop on a run rather than a one-off. He's the headliner, and he's joined by The Beatles Dub Club and DJ Toby Spin on support.
Charles describes the night as 'Craig's Funk & Soul House Party', and that's the best way to think about it. He's not playing a set list so much as dipping into his own record collection, mixing straight-up groove bangers with more exclusive funk and soul cuts. It's the kind of night where the records he's known for sit alongside things you might not have heard before, and the whole thing is built around the records themselves rather than a fixed programme. The Beatles Dub Club and DJ Toby Spin will be warming up the room before he takes over.
The Oxford date is one of four on this particular tour, and it's part of the broader Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club night he runs. If you've caught his club nights before, you'll know the format: it's about the records and the dancefloor, and this tour brings that same approach to the stage. The support acts get things moving early, and then Charles takes over with the records he's been collecting.
