One-off night of live acoustic sets by local stars Robin Bennett & friends and Premium Leisure in the basement of the Museum of Oxford.
Robin Bennett & friends and Premium Leisure play the Museum of Oxford on Friday 6 November, part of the Afterhours Acoustics series that puts local scene stars in the museum's basement for one-off live nights. It's a double bill: Premium Leisure open with a solo set, followed by Robin Bennett & friends playing a stripped-back set.
Premium Leisure is the unfettered outlet of producer and guitarist Chris Barker, a home for his guitar-laden songs and studio explorations. Following their debut album Bug Blood, the EP Pea — recorded and self-produced in Oxford — arrives later this year, so this is one of the first chances to hear that material live. Robin Bennett is an Oxford singer-songwriter and local legend, an original founder of Truck Festival and now a curator of Truck's Veterans and Virgins stage as well as of Wood and Septembersong festivals. Blending indie-rock with Americana, he's performed alongside Saint Etienne, Wilson Poole and Oxford bands like Dusty Sound System, Dreaming Spires and Goldrush.
The ticket includes free entry to the museum and the Sounds of the City exhibition, so you can have a look around before the music starts. The venue is accessible via step-free entry at the Town Hall entrance closest to Carfax Tower.
