Christmas stand-up comedy show at the New Theatre in Oxford.
Christmas Comedy Club comes to the New Theatre on Friday 18 December, with the stand-up taking place in the piano bar rather than the main auditorium. It's a late one, too, starting at 10.00pm, so it sits more as a night-out thing than a pre-dinner stop.
The New Theatre is on George Street, just off the city centre, so it's easy enough to get to on foot if you're already in town. The piano bar is a separate space from the main stage, and that's where the comedy will be held, which keeps the whole thing a bit more contained than a full theatre run. It's stand-up comedy in the proper sense: a line-up of acts taking turns on the mic, one after another, rather than a single name carrying the whole evening.
Because it's a club night, you're getting a few different voices in one go. The format is built around that variety, so if one act isn't quite your thing, there's always another coming up to take over. It's the kind of night that works best when you're there with a few people, and the late start means you've got plenty of time to get sorted before the first act takes the stage.
