Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Chris Cantrill brings his solo stand-up show Rewilding to The Glee Club Oxford.
Chris Cantrill brings his show Rewilding to The Glee Club Oxford at The Bullingdon on Wednesday 10 March 2027. It's his second solo show, and he describes it as something assembled with a craftsman's care.
The story follows a rural borderlands community, an act of vandalism and the outsider determined to make it all about him. Having embraced village life, Cantrill is content to spend his days whittling, signing for packages and glaring at passing hikers, until a beloved local tree is cut down in the dead of night. That's when he's drawn into a mystery that reveals a far darker side to his idyllic surroundings.
Cantrill is an Edinburgh Comedy Award winner, and his work has taken him across the UK comedy scene, with associations including SNL UK and Icklewick FM. Rewilding is his second solo outing, and the critics have been generous with it: they've called it infectious, witty and self-deprecating, and a surrealist presentation that would have drawn Dali's moustache twitching with pleasure. If you're into comedy that leans into the surreal and the specific, that's a good place to start.
