Free drop-in trail for children aged 4 to 10 to find the bats that have taken over the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.
The Oxford University Museum of Natural History is running the Bat Trackers Trail from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November, a free drop-in activity for children aged 4 to 10. The premise is simple enough: a colony of bats has taken over the museum, and the kids have to track them down. It's a trail that takes you around the galleries, so it's as much about moving through the building as it is about the activity itself.
Because it's a drop-in, you don't need to book a slot or turn up at a specific time. You just head in whenever suits you during the opening hours and get started. That makes it a decent option if you're already planning a trip to the museum over the half-term break and want something to keep the younger ones occupied while you're there. The trail is aimed at the 4-to-10 age group, so it's designed for children who can follow a path and a bit of a hunt, rather than something that needs a lot of adult hand-holding.

It runs every day from the 24th of October through to the 1st of November, from 10:00 to 17:00. The museum is on Parks Road, OX1 3PW, and the activity is free, so there's no ticket to sort in advance. If you're in Oxford with kids during that window, it's an easy one to slot in.
