University of Oxford student play about a local democracy reporter's final days at the Oxfordshire Chronicle, set on Christmas Eve.
And Red All Over runs at the Burton Taylor Studio from Tuesday 3 to Saturday 7 November, five performances in total. It's a University of Oxford student play, written by Sam Drury, and it forms part of the University's Student Season for Michaelmas Term 2026. The production is funded by Arts Council England, Oxford Council, the University of Oxford, St John's College and UK Theatre.
The play is set on Christmas Eve 2026 at the failing Oxfordshire Chronicle, and it follows Jim Cloud, an eccentric local democracy reporter. Cloud is convinced his investigations will save the paper, and he works alongside his suspicious editor's clickbait guru, Lucy. It's billed as funny, intriguing and ultimately tragic, and it works as a state-of-the-nation exploration of duty, community and what is lost when the local newspaper dies.
