Stand-up comedy show by Paul Sykes, presented by NCF Comedy, at Fishergate Point Studios.
Paul Sykes brings his one-man show to Fishergate Point on Sunday 8 November, part of the NCF Comedy programme. He's a Wakefield stand-up billed as the city's 'infamous hardman', and this is the show he's taking on the road.
It's a journey of survival and self-discovery that's taken him from Paris and Panama City to Pontefract and Pyongyang, and it's built around the idea of being a big fish in a big pond — with the running joke being that Wakefield is the 11th largest city in Britain when you count the wider districts. The show has been seen on BBC Three, and Sykes won the BBC New Comedy Awards 2025, with EdFringeReview.com calling the act 'raucous and genuinely hilarious'.
