Post-punk art-rock trio Young Knives play Metronome on their 'Voices of Animals and Men' 20th Anniversary Tour, with support from Hot Face.
Young Knives play Metronome on Friday 13 November, as part of their Voices of Animals and Men 20th anniversary tour. The post-punk art-rock trio are touring the record that started it all: their Mercury Prize-nominated debut, released in 2006 and produced by Gang of Four's Andy Gill. It gave them three Top 40 singles — 'Here Comes The Rumour Mill', 'She's Attracted To' and 'Weekends and Bleak Days (Hot Summer)' — and put them on the map.
Frontman Henry Dartnall describes revisiting the record as a chance to reconnect with the raw, energetic songwriting that first defined the band. It's a long way back to 2006, but that's the whole point of the tour: playing the debut in full, twenty years on from when it first came out. The show follows their sold-out 2025 dates and is part of NTU Arts, the university's extra-curricular and public arts programme.
For context, the band formed in 1996 in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, and those early years led to heavy rotation on MTV2 and support from BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music. Since then they've put out a string of acclaimed albums — Superabundance, Ornaments From the Silver Arcade, Sick Octave, Barbarians and Landfill — so while the night centres on the debut, there's a fair bit of ground they've covered since. Hot Face will be supporting them on the night.
