Free, low-impact social walks on Mondays at 11am to get people outdoors, stay active and meet new people around Nottingham.
Wellness Walks run every Monday morning at Bulwell Riverside Centre, 108 Coventry Rd, Bulwell, Nottingham NG6 8PS. They're low-impact social walks that set out to get people outdoors, staying active and meeting new people on scenic routes around Nottingham. The sessions are free and open to everyone, and they run every Monday at 11am, except on bank holidays.
Run by Runspire Together in partnership with Nottingham City Council's Travel Well project, the walks are aimed at helping people manage their mental and physical wellbeing and at tackling social isolation. It's a gentle way to get moving without putting too much strain on yourself, and the social side is as much a part of it as the walking. A guest on the Travel Well podcast said the welcoming, friendly community has made a real difference to participants' lives, which gives you a good sense of the atmosphere you'll find there.
On the day, the meeting point is the cafe at the Riverside Centre. From there, the group heads out on scenic routes around the city, so you'll see a bit of Nottingham on foot rather than from a car or bus. Because they're low-impact, they're designed to be accessible, and since they're open to everyone, you'll find people from all walks of life joining in.
