Over-14s rock show by unpeople, winners of the Heavy Music Award for Best Breakthrough Live Artist, on their We Are Unpeople tour.
unpeople play The Bodega on Wednesday 27 January, part of their we are unpeople tour. They're a four-piece — guitarists Jake Crawford and Luke Caley, bassist Em Lodge and drummer Richard Rayner — and the name comes from the term for people considered politically unimportant or of no value. They channel that discontent into their songs, which they build around earnest lyrics, hefty riffs, catchy melodies and luscious harmonies, all marked by an impassioned animosity towards the state of the world and its effects on humanity.
They've recently released the single 'friends' and announced their debut album, we are unpeople, which gives the tour its name. This Nottingham date follows a string of sold-out London shows that won them this year's Heavy Music Award for Best Breakthrough Live Artist, and they've picked up praise from The Guardian and Kerrang! Magazine along the way. They've made their main stage debuts at Download and Slam Dunk in the UK, and have played first outings at European festivals including Copenhell, Jera on Air, Greenfield and Rock for People.
