Black-tie charity boxing night for beginners, with eight weeks of free training before a three-round regulated fight, strictly for ages 18 and over.
Ultra White Collar Boxing comes to The Palais on Saturday 21 November, part of a series of black-tie boxing nights they run in over 100 cities across the UK. The whole thing is pitched as a way for people with no boxing background to get into the ring in a safe, controlled environment, while raising money for charity and getting in shape. If you've never put on a pair of gloves, this is exactly where you start.
The format is built for complete beginners. Before the night itself, every boxer gets eight weeks of free professional training at The JKBA, The Sycammore Centre — training worth £300 that you don't pay for. After that, each boxer is matched with an opponent of a similar level, so you're not going up against someone who's been training for years. The fight itself runs over three rounds, and everyone wears 16oz gloves and head guards at a fully regulated event, with friends and family watching from the crowd. Boxers are expected to sell tickets and raise at least £50 for charity.

It's a black-tie night, so the dress code is strictly formal. The event is for ages 18 and over, and tickets have to be bought in advance — they aren't available on the day, so if you want to be there, you'll need to sort yours early. The Palais is on Lower Parliament Street, NG1 3BB, and the boxing runs from 3:30pm to 8:00pm. Tickets start at £38 and go up to £530, with standing tickets tiered by date and reaching £49 on the day of the event.
