Award-winning show of dance, satire, poetry and impersonation at the Djanogly Theatre.
Thick & Tight bring Natural Behaviour to the Djanogly Theatre on Friday 16 October, a show they describe as somewhere between a variety show and a biology essay come alive. It's an award-winning collection of performed portraits of human and non-human life forms, and the line-up is as odd as that sounds: two moths, a pantomime horse, the dust in Quentin Crisp's room, some flies on the wall and a lesbian seagull. Each one gets its own moment, and they're all held together by the group's usual mix of dance, satire, poetry and impersonation.
That's the core of what they do — shifting from one thing to another without much warning. One minute it's a dance, the next a bit of satire or a poem, and then someone stepping into a character. The portraits are the focus here, and they run the full length of the natural world, from the tiny and overlooked to the properly strange. The whole thing is a queer look at what it means to be natural or unnatural, and it's suitable for ages 12 and over.
