Nottingham Friends outing to the Lustre craft fair at Lakeside Arts, with a morning of art and shopping.
Nottingham Friends are heading to the Djanogly Gallery on Saturday 7 November, and the morning is built around Lustre, the craft fair hosted by Lakeside Arts. It's a well-established one that brings together work from more than 50 of the UK's finest makers, with local favourites in the mix, and it's pitched as a way to kick-start your Christmas shopping. If you're into ceramics, textiles, jewellery or anything handmade, it's a good place to find something that doesn't come off a conveyor belt.
The group meets at the Angear visitor centre, which sits right next to the gallery. Before you head into the fair, there's a small photographic exhibition there called The Flower, The Wall by Byron Mohammad Hamzah, so you can have a proper look at that first. From there, the morning opens up to the fair itself, where you can wander through the stalls and pick up a few things for the Christmas run.
Once the browsing is done, the group reconvenes for coffee and a chat, so it's as much about the company as the craft. If you're going on your own, it's an easy way to spend a Saturday morning with people who'd rather be looking at art than doing the weekly shop.
