Art-folk band The Woolverstones headline a live music night at The Grove in Sneinton Market, with special guests Two Piece Blues and Jack Stanton.
The Woolverstones headline a triple-bill at The Grove on Sunday 1 November, with Two Piece Blues and Jack Stanton opening the night. It's a full evening of live music rather than a single act, so you'll get three sets for the price of one.
The Woolverstones describe themselves as an art-folk outfit, and they've built their following the old-fashioned way: playing over 70 dates a year across the UK and Europe and letting word-of-mouth do the work rather than chasing social media metrics. That touring ethic has taken them to the Cambridge Folk Festival, Howth Roots and Blues, Cropredy Fringe, and Lowther's Folk & Roots Festival. They've supported a wide range of acts, from the Inspiral Carpets to freak-folk pioneer Malcolm Le Maistre of The Incredible String Band.
Their debut album, Grey Eyed Dandy, was produced and mixed by Grammy-nominated engineer John Wood, who worked on Nick Drake's Pink Moon, John Martyn's Solid Air, and Fairport Convention's early records. That lineage puts their sound in a particular tradition of British folk, and they've picked up a BBC Introducing 'Track of the Week' along the way, with praise from music historian Colin Larkin and members of The Byrds and Country Joe and the Fish.
