Immersive theatre piece by Chronic Insanity played across the Samhain Pagan Market, where visitors become part of the story.
The Witch Trials comes to Sneinton Market on Saturday 31 October, from 12 pm to 6 pm. It's an immersive theatre production by Chronic Insanity, the award-winning company that recently sold out their show Apple of Discord.
Rather than sitting in a seat and watching a play unfold on a stage, you're right in the middle of it. The experience is hidden throughout the Samhain Pagan Market, and it plays out across the whole day, so you'll find bits of the story tucked away among the stalls. The plot follows witches and supernatural beings, with the Headless Horseman making an appearance, and the whole thing is built around the idea that you're part of the action rather than just an observer. There's even a chance to get stuck in and try to rewrite the outcome yourself, so what happens might depend on who's there on the day.
Because it's an immersive piece, it works best if you're wandering the market anyway. You'll stumble across the characters and the story as you go, and the more you engage with it, the more you'll see. It's a good fit for a Halloween Saturday, especially since it's set within the Samhain Pagan Market, which will be running alongside it.
