Aaron Sorkin's film about the Facebook whistleblower exposé, directed by Sorkin and starring Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White, rated 15.
The Social Reckoning is playing at Broadway this week, with four screenings running from Monday 26 October to Thursday 29 October. It's a 112-minute film, rated 15, and it's directed by Aaron Sorkin as a follow-up to The Social Network.
While that first one looked at the early days of Facebook, this one moves into the fallout. It's based on real events: the whistleblowing that led to The Wall Street Journal's exposé, The Facebook Files. The story follows a Facebook engineer who works with reporter Jeff Horwitz to uncover dangerous truths hidden in the website's code, and it touches on the platform's internal struggles and the public controversies that followed. It's a thought-provoking piece of cinema that deals with contemporary social themes, so it's the kind of thing that gives you plenty to talk about over a drink afterwards.
On screen, Mikey Madison takes the lead as the engineer, her first role since her Oscar-winning performance in Anora. She stars alongside Jeremy Allen White as Jeff Horwitz, with Betty Gilpin also in the cast.
