A Christmas show pairing a screening of Raymond Briggs' film 'The Snowman' with its soundtrack performed live by a professional orchestra.
The Snowman comes to the Royal Concert Hall on Sunday 13 December, with two performances that day at 11:00am and 1:30pm. It's a big-screen screening of Raymond Briggs' BAFTA-winning film, with Howard Blake's soundtrack performed live by a professional orchestra. The film runs for an hour with no interval, and doors open an hour before each showing.
Carrot Productions is behind the production, and they describe themselves as the world's leading performers of The Snowman with live orchestra, bringing together some of the UK's finest musicians for the show, which they call award-winning. The whole thing is aimed at the whole family, so it's a good one to take the kids along to.
There's a bit more to it than just the main film. The session opens with an introduction by Daniel Whibley, the CBeebies Musical Storyland composer, and it wraps up with a screening of the Shaun the Sheep Christmas short Fleece Navidad, also played live. Between the two, you've got a full hour of the main story, so it's a fair bit of music for one sitting.
