The official Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club tour, mixing live music, narration and projected archive images and footage to celebrate the club's history.
The Ronnie Scott's Soho Songbook comes to Nottingham Playhouse on Tuesday 16 February 2027, as part of the official Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club tour. It's a show that looks back at the music and history of the London institution, and it's not just a concert — it mixes live music with narration and projected archive images and footage, so you'll see the club's story as well as hear it.
That story starts in a humble basement music bar where musicians would jam, and grew into an internationally acclaimed venue. Over the years, it's hosted Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck and Michael Bublé, with surprise appearances by Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder and Prince. The show traces that arc from the early days to the world-famous club it is now, with the live music running alongside the narration and the archive material.
The critics have been kind: The Observer called the players 'outstanding', The Guardian described the show as 'full-on brilliance' and Jazzwise said it marries vision and sound. It's the official tour from the club itself, so it's as close to the source as you'll get.
